Uncle Matt Makes makes these games and runs this site. This page covers ummgames.com and OTHER EARTH TV, the channel that airs the games at tv.ummgames.com. Each game also has a notice of its own for anything it sends while you play.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics and no ads.
- If you join an email list here, your address is kept by Kit, the newsletter service, and used only for that list. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which sees your IP address while it sends you the page, like any website.
OTHER EARTH TV
You can watch without an account, and you can get in line to play without one. An account keeps your tokens and a list of your turns on air.
Signing in
You sign in with a link sent to your email, or with Google, Twitch, Discord or Steam. There are no passwords. From the way you choose, the account keeps:
- Email: your address.
- Google, Twitch or Discord: the id that site gives you, your display name, and your email address if that site says it is verified.
- Steam: your Steam id and your public Steam name.
That site only tells me who you are when you agree on its own sign-in page. I don't get your password, your friends or anything you post there.
What the account keeps
- A made-up handle, like Acting Intern 12, and when the account was made.
- Your tokens: each grant, each one spent on a run, and each one held while you're called.
- Your turns: which show, the handle you played under, when you got in line, started and finished, how the turn ended and how long you were on air.
Cookies and links
- Signing in sets one cookie on tv.ummgames.com, which keeps you signed in for 30 days. Scripts on the page can't read it. Signing out deletes it, and the session with it.
- A sign-in link works once, for 15 minutes. Your address and the link are kept only until then, and deleted soon after.
When you're on air
- Everyone watching sees your run, under your handle, live and on the channel's streams. Your run's inputs pass through the server so other screens can show them, and are kept only until the next run starts.
- A vote from the site goes out under a made-up handle and isn't kept. A vote from Twitch chat can show your Twitch name on air beside what it threw.
Your network address
The server sees your IP address, like any website. It keeps only salted hashes of it, which can't be turned back into the address: one to limit how many sign-in links one address can ask for (deleted after two days), and one in each show's line, so one address can't fill the line. The line also keeps each turn's handle and times, to see whether people come back.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts the channel, stores the accounts and sends the sign-in emails.
- Google, Twitch, Discord and Steam, only if you sign in with them.
- No ad or analytics companies. I don't sell or share any of this.
Deleting your account
Email [email protected] from the address on the account, or tell me which way you sign in, and I'll delete the account, its sign-in ways, its tokens and its list of turns.
Accounts are for people 13 and older.
Each game's own notice
A game that sends anything while you play links its own notice from inside the game. For example, Bits n' Blood's covers its daily board.
